Ellen Sigunick
Ellen Sigunick is an artisan and furniture maker based in Newburgh, New York, and founder of Sigunik Studio, which works in parchment and leather for furniture and architectural surfaces. She began working with parchment after living in East Africa, where she made photo-based work about street children in Nairobi. After five years at Pergamena, a US parchment producer, she has spent about 15 years making heirloom furniture with architecture and interior design firms. In 2022 she was a one-month resident at Domaine de Boisbuchet, where she made prototype seats clad in cyanotype-printed stingray leather.
