Emily Rains

Emily Rains is an assistant professor in the Political Science Department at Tulane University. Her research covers urban politics, gender, and political behavior in the Global South, mainly India. During her 2027 residency at A Studio in the Woods, she plans to develop a book on political life in Indian informal settlements, examining why claim-making differs across marginalized communities.
