Erica Zhan

Erica Zhan is a Chinese interdisciplinary artist and writer based in Chicago. Their work uses performance, film, photography and writing to examine competition, professionalism and regulation in late capitalism. Zhan has worked as a residency artist at SODAS 2123 in Vilnius, Lithuania, where they researched games and competition and planned an essay film on the emotions of watching sport. Described as a 'rule hacker' and 'alternative player', Zhan often uses humour and parody. Recent performances include 'How To Become a Professional Artist' (2025) and 'Step by Step' (2025).
