Heather L. Johnson

Heather L. Johnson is an independent visual artist based in Houston, Texas. Her recent work focuses on landscapes and people she encounters while traveling. She was the inaugural Artist in Residence at Grand Canyon National Park in 2021, run through the Grand Canyon Conservancy. During the residency she used drawing and writing to study how her presence affected the park. Her residency included two guided sketch hikes that taught careful observation and spontaneous drawing.
