Helene Fischman
Helene Fischman is an artist whose work creates contexts for teaching history through narrative, combining text, language, painting, and photography. She looks for traces of history in places, often in hidden spots. Her 2004 residency at the Auschwitz Jewish Center in Poland, where she worked with poet Jehanne Dubrow, marked the start of her use of text in her art. She has since been an artist in residence at ten national and state parks.
