Himat Ali

Himat Ali is an Iraqi-born painter, born in 1960, who lives and works in Paris. His multi-layered abstractions blend organic and geometric forms and are often inspired by poetry or made with poets. He was a resident and had a solo show, 'Meditation', at Darat al Funun in 1996. Ali was in Japan in 1990 when war broke out in Iraq, which kept him from returning; he went on to Jordan before settling in France. His work treats dots and signs as a kind of language turned toward infinity.
