Jesse Curran

Jesse Curran is a poet, essayist, scholar, and teacher based in Northport, New York. Their novel A Handful of Earth, a lyric novel about a terminally ill woman who travels to Italy to paint, was published by Press Pause Press in 2025 and won the 2024 Beautiful Pause Prize. They teach English at SUNY Old Westbury and were named 2025 Long Island Poet of the Year. Their essays and poems have appeared in literary journals including After the Art, Literary Mama, About Place, and The Denver Quarterly. They have also published poetry chapbooks and academic work on Emily Dickinson, Thoreau, and ecopoetics.
