JOSÉ VILLALOBOS

José Villalobos is a multidisciplinary artist who works across sculpture, installation, performance, photography, drawing, video, and fashion. Based in Texas, he grew up on the US/Mexico border in El Paso. His work examines gender, machismo, religion, and queer identity through Norteño and Western material culture such as cowboy hats, boots, saddles, and rodeo gear. He was a resident artist at CALA Alliance in Phoenix in 2024 and 2025, where his residency ended with the solo show "Rough Rider."
