Josue Bessiake

Josue Bessiake is an Ivorian-American painter who works across media and draws on his experience as a second-generation immigrant. His practice treats the studio as a laboratory, using repurposed materials, destruction, and repair. He was the Spring 2026 resident artist at Popps Packing in Detroit, where he worked on The Anatomy of a Home, a series about light from domestic windows in Detroit and Hamtramck. He is also listed as a 2026 resident at the Elizabeth Murray Artist Residency at Collar Works in Troy, NY.
