Kathy Escobar
Kathy Escobar is a ceramics artist based in Brooklyn, New York, who works with hand-building and wheel throwing. Her practice includes functional tableware and cookware as well as sculptural work. She is a 2026 ceramic resident at Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill. Her work draws on her Apache ancestry, including Micaceous Cooking Vessel traditions learned in New Mexico, and on wood and pit firing, where results are shaped by variables such as wind and temperature. Her Patchwork series alters wheel-thrown vessels with cut openings and textile techniques such as crochet, sewing, and embroidery.
