Kyla Gilbert

Kyla Gilbert is a visual artist based in Vancouver, BC, whose practice centres on improvised, material-driven objects that mix discrepancy, juxtaposition and joy. She has a background in performance and once toured as a puppeteer with DJ Kid Koala. She completed an MFA at Emily Carr University in 2022. Her residencies include SÍM Residency in Reykjavik (2022) and Elsewhere Museum in Greensboro, NC (2020). Her work often uses repurposed and found materials, exploring domestic objects and the relationship between bodies and environments.
