Lee Hyewon was a resident at Tokyo Arts and Space (TOKAS) in 2026. During the residency, the artist examined the techno-utopian visual strategies of Manchukuo through literature reviews and dialogues with experts. The work looked at how imperial Japan's staging of technological optimism still shapes contemporary images of the Asian city.
