Lisa Fairstein

Lisa Fairstein is a New York-based artist who makes image-based photographic works that examine contemporary visual culture and the process of making pictures. She received an MFA from the School of Visual Arts. She was a Pioneer Works visual arts resident in 2016. Her series Deep Shade (exhibited at Baxter St in 2017) uses staged re-creations of web-based photos to probe online image consumption. Her later series Loud Frames applies a similar approach to casual, social-media-style snapshots.
