Manauara Clandestina

Manauara Clandestina is a visual artist born in Manaus, Brazil, in 1992. Her performance and video work addresses trans (travesti) life and the conditions shaping it, often through fashion and imagery of the Amazon. She was a resident at Piramidón in Barcelona in 2021. The artist grew up partly in missionary communities in the Amazonas interior, and started in church theatre and music. Later she worked as a night performer in Manaus before expanding into video and other formats. Her 2024–2025 video room at MASP was curated by Leandro Muniz.
