Martha Hipley

Martha Hipley is a writer, artist and filmmaker based in Mexico City, according to a Courtney Maum retreat page. In 2026 she spent three weeks at the Pocoapoco residency in Oaxaca, where she attended the Sur o No Sur program. Her Substack reports on that residency and on a novel she is writing about artists, real estate and gentrification. She has also made the interactive game 'Ekphrasis' about looking at art, and has published a short story-style piece, 'subroutine_trace', in Sci Phi Journal.
