Matti Aikio

Matti Aikio (born 1980) is a Sámi visual artist from Vuotso in Northern Lapland who trained at the Tromsø Academy of Contemporary Art, graduating in 2012. He works across photography, video, installation, sound and music, and has been a DJ since 2009. His work examines nomadism as philosophy, culture and way of life, and he also takes part in reindeer herding with his family. He was a KulttuuriKauppila resident in 2016, the year he showed a sound installation at the Art Ii Biennial.
