Michèle Colburn

Michèle Colburn is a Washington, DC painter whose work addresses the lasting effects of war and violence, using gunpowder residues, watercolor and acrylic on archival paper. Her recent work also turns to plants as symbols of peace and healing. She was the 2026 artist-in-residence at La Maison de Simon in Normandy, where she focused on the region's landscapes and medicinal plants. Her father's role in establishing a hospital in France in 1944 and 1945 is part of the family history behind her work.
