Olivia McGilchrist

Olivia McGilchrist is a French-Jamaican multimedia artist and doctoral candidate who works with video, multimedia installation and virtual reality. Her research looks at how colonial legacies carry into VR technology. She has worked in VR since 2015 as an artist and consultant. She holds a Fine Art Photography MA from London College of Communication (2010) and is pursuing an Individualized PhD at Concordia University. Her thesis is titled 'Virtual ISLANDs, hybrid identities in Virtual Reality.' She has exhibited in the Caribbean, Europe, and North and South America. Ada X hosted her as a resident in 2017, and she has since led workshops and an Allo Ada online project with the organization.
