Orquidia Violeta

Orquidia Violeta is a textile artist who works with salvaged cloth, natural dyes, and reclaimed fibers. Her practice spans embroidery, weaving, knitting, appliqué, and fiber collage. She describes herself as Mestiza Indigenous-Salvadoran-American. In spring 2026 she was Artist in Residence with the Grand Canyon Conservancy at the South Rim. There she made circular weavings inspired by the canyon's strata and rings, and ran public weaving and stitching workshops. Her work explores memory, place, sustainability, and how discarded materials can be reused. Her site describes her residency in the first person, and the Conservancy's event pages and social posts confirm the dates and events. Her own site is at orquidiavioleta.com.
