Rafael Fricks

Rafael Fricks, PhD, is an Associate Director for AI in Medical Imaging at the Department of Veterans Affairs, working within the MAVERIC Informatics Group and the National Artificial Intelligence Institute. He joined the VA in 2018 through the BD-STEP postdoctoral program. He holds a BS from the University of Texas at Austin and an MS and PhD in biomedical engineering from Duke University. His research covers computer vision, AI, medical imaging and probabilistic modeling for health care systems.
