Ruben Cabenda

Ruben Cabenda is a Surinamese artist, born in Paramaribo in 1989, who works mainly in animation and also in installation, sculpture and painting. His work examines slavery, identity and the links between past and present. He trained at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and has taught art in Suriname since 2014. He was in residence at Alice Yard in Trinidad in September 2025.
