SAM FRÉSQUEZ

Sam Frésquez is an interdisciplinary artist whose work uses beading, fire suits, racing flags, hair, and found footage to examine gender and NASCAR culture. Their practice focuses on the tension between public presentation and private experience. In 2022 they were CALA Alliance's Regional Artist in Residence, which led to the solo exhibition Second Place is the First Loser. They have since earned an MFA in sculpture from Yale and were named a 2026 Joan Mitchell Fellow.
