Sara Maynard

Sara Maynard is an artist (photography, sculpture, and illustration) and long-distance open-water swimmer. She was an artist-in-residence on Rabbit Island, Lake Superior, in 2012. She swam there from shore, reportedly the first person to do so. Born in Boise, Idaho, in 1985, she earned a BFA from California College of the Arts in 2008. In summer 2012 she swam in lakes across the United States and Canada. Her work was shown in the NMU Art Museum's 2013 Rabbit Island exhibition.
