Scout Cartagena

Scout Cartagena is a multidisciplinary artist and educator based in Chicago. Their work deals with disability, grief in the body, and medical trauma, drawing on their experience as an Afro-Latine, queer, disabled person with an autoimmune disease. They were named an Artist-in-Residence at Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts for Spring 2026. They hold an MFA in Sculpture from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and founded Break Free Fest in Philadelphia.
