Selma Makela

Selma Makela is a visual artist of Finnish and Turkish Cypriot descent, born in London and based in County Galway, Ireland. Her paintings explore distance, dislocation, displacement and climate concern, often drawing on geological and meteorological phenomena and 19th-century glacier photographs. She is a member of Interface Inagh in Connemara, where she has held a residency, and has shown widely in Ireland and the UK.
