Sofia Saleme

Sofia Saleme is a Brazilian artist whose work explores scars, bodily fragility, and resilience. She uses natural pigments and Japanese gold leaf to treat marks often ignored, such as pus or tumours, as precious traces. She was a 2023 resident at Duplex AIR, where she showed azulejos combined with hair-made tiles, and her 2025 solo show Histórias lindas de morrer opened at the MUHNAC in Lisbon.
