Sophia Leitenmayer

Sophia Leitenmayer is an artist working across sound, performance, object and video, with a focus on collective methods. Her work examines extreme sonic experience, prostheses, non-functioning bodies and repair. She is currently focusing on the 'cemetery orbit' of discarded satellites and space debris. She completed an MFA at the Hamburg Academy of Fine Arts in 2024 and also studied at the Academy of Music and Drama Hamburg and the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. She is a curator with Hyper Cultural Passengers in Hamburg. In summer 2025 she was a resident at Bibliothek Andreas Züst in Switzerland, where she developed 'Exorbitant' with Carlos León Zambrano.
