Will Hughes

Will Hughes is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Teesside whose work draws on lived experience as a queer, non-binary person. Using repetitive mechanical movement, glossy surfaces and the language of glamour, they build moments that mix pop culture references with material forms. They are a studio holder at The Auxiliary in Middlesbrough, where they also work as a freelance project manager for Middlesbrough Art Week. Hughes has exhibited nationally and internationally, including a solo show in Blackpool in 2023 and the 'Marea' installation at GS Artists in Swansea in 2022. They received a Henry Moore Foundation Artist Award nomination in 2022 and completed a Masters at Baltic and Northumbria University in 2021.
