Yugyong Jong

Yugyong Jong is a Fukuoka-based multidisciplinary artist born in Kobe to Korean parents. His dual identity is central to his artistic work. In 2023 he completed a three-month residency at Kouraku Kiln in Arita, where he made the 'Omura-yaki' series. The series imagines a fictional historical ceramic ware drawn from the 1950 Omura Immigration Detention Center and wartime porcelain grenades made in Arita.
