Zhiyu Xiao

Zhiyu Xiao (born 1995) is a Helsinki-based visual artist who works mainly through painting and explores exhibition as a medium. Recent research examines landscape across historical contexts as a way to address gendered, colonial, and racial dynamics in images. He holds an MFA in Painting from the University of Arts Helsinki and was a resident at Villa Filanda Antonini in 2024, where he presented the installation 'Villagiatura'. He is also listed as a 2025 resident at Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht.
