About the press

Assure Press is an independent publisher and artist-run space founded in 2018 in Chicago by a collective of writers, artists, and designers. It emerged from a desire to create a sustainable, non-hierarchical platform for experimental writing and visual art that often falls outside commercial and academic markets. The press operates as a hybrid entity: it publishes limited-edition books, broadsides, and ephemera, and hosts a reading room and occasional exhibition series in its Pilsen storefront. Its core mission is to foster a community of risk-taking makers through collaborative editing, fair royalties, and a commitment to keeping printed matter accessible. Rather than pursuing a fixed aesthetic, Assure Press emphasizes process, dialogue, and the materiality of the book as a site for critical and poetic inquiry.

Publishing focus

Assure Press connects authors and artists with the world through inspirational and enlightening poetry, nonfiction, motivational, and educational literature that is mostly, but not only, in the English language.

Assure Press accepts submissions year-round via its website, but response times can be slow due to its volunteer staff. They are most interested in hybrid manuscripts that defy easy categorization—work that engages with visual poetics, documentary impulses, or book-as-object possibilities. Before submitting, read several titles from their catalog to understand their range; they value conceptual clarity and a strong sense of voice over polish. Include a brief cover letter that contextualizes your project and its intended audience. Simultaneous submissions are fine, but please notify them promptly if your work is accepted elsewhere. They do not charge reading fees, and they offer a modest honorarium and contributor copies upon publication.

We seek original ideas The work does not have to be entirely in English Simultaneous submissions are encouraged ; if the work is accepted elsewhere, please withdraw your work and add a note through Submittable
