About the press
Aurora Metro Books is an independent publisher founded in 1989 with a commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices in literature and drama. From its origins as a theatre company, it evolved into a press that champions new writing, particularly by women and writers from diverse backgrounds, publishing plays, fiction, and non-fiction that challenge mainstream narratives. Its core mission is to foster cultural exchange and social change through accessible, high-quality publishing, often working at the intersection of page and stage.

Aurora Metro welcomes submissions that align with its ethos of diversity and innovation, particularly in drama and fiction. Before submitting, review their catalogue to understand their aesthetic and political leanings. They prioritize complete manuscripts or full plays, and simultaneous submissions are generally accepted, but always check their website for specific guidelines and reading periods. Patience is key, as response times can be lengthy due to high volume.
