About the press

Diode Editions is a small press and literary organization founded in 2012 as an extension of Diode Poetry Journal. Committed to publishing poetry that is formally adventurous and emotionally resonant, the press has built a reputation for meticulous curation and design. Its annual book contest and open reading periods provide a platform for both emerging and established poets, with a focus on work that demonstrates a keen ear for language and a willingness to take risks. The press operates with a clear ethos: to champion poetry that might be overlooked by larger commercial houses, and to treat each book as a work of art in itself.

Poets should approach Diode Editions with a polished, cohesive manuscript that reflects a distinctive voice. The press values craftsmanship and originality, so avoid submitting work that feels derivative or overly conventional. Read recent titles from the press to understand its aesthetic. For contests, follow guidelines precisely and include a brief, professional cover letter. Response times can be lengthy, so patience is advised. Simultaneous submissions are generally accepted, but notify promptly if the work is placed elsewhere.
