About the press

Dipity Press is the chapbook imprint of Dipity Literary Magazine, an independent publisher founded in the early 2020s to champion emerging and underrepresented voices in contemporary poetry and short prose. The press operates with a clear DIY ethos, prioritizing the chapbook as a nimble, affordable form that allows writers to present a cohesive body of work without the pressures of a full-length collection. Its mission is to curate small, carefully edited editions that reflect a range of aesthetic sensibilities—from lyric experimentation to narrative-driven sequences—while keeping production values high and print runs accessible to readers.

Publishing focus

Chapbooks at dipity.press must be themed. It’s an international series open to poets of all ages. The editors highlight abstract poetry both the dark and light (comical side) tied back to the true gargoyle moments of life, but welcome collections that are on the fictional spectrum too.

Before submitting, read at least one full chapbook from Dipity Press to understand the range of work they publish—this is not a press with a single rigid aesthetic, but they do favor cohesive manuscripts over loose assemblages. Follow the guidelines on their website precisely: they typically ask for a set page count, a brief cover letter, and a table of contents. Simultaneous submissions are usually accepted, but notify them immediately if the manuscript is taken elsewhere. Because the press is small and volunteer-run, response times can be slow; a polite query after three to four months is reasonable. Do not send full-length collections or unsolicited revisions unless invited. Most importantly, present a manuscript that feels finished and intentional—chapbooks are short, so every poem or story must earn its place.

We have fee waivers for disabled writers over one manuscript per submission window. Guidelines for mid to full length chapbooks and micro chapbooks differ and have separate windows across the year so read carefully. All poems must be previously unpublished. No identifying information should be in your Word document. Including a cover letter in the designated form is fine, but it remains concealed to our intital reading team levels. Your submission undergoes three rounds of review.
