About the press

k+p press is an independent publishing house and curatorial platform founded in 2015 by artists and designers committed to the book as a site for experimental art and critical writing. Operating at the intersection of print and contemporary art, the press produces limited-edition artist books, zines, and multiples that foreground materiality, collaboration, and the demystification of publishing processes. Its core mission is to support emerging and underrepresented voices, fostering a community where editorial rigor meets playful, process-driven inquiry.

Publishing focus

k+p press was founded in 2020 by Beth Kantrowitz and Roberta Paul, childhood friends and longtime artistic collaborators, who were inspired to launch a new creative venture together. They publish books that challenge the way readers think about the changing world.

Before submitting, thoroughly review k+p press's existing catalog to understand its aesthetic and conceptual range. Proposals should articulate a clear vision for the book as an object—consider format, materials, and sequencing—and demonstrate how the project engages with the press's ethos of experimentation. Include a concise project description, sample spreads or mockups, and a realistic production timeline. Simultaneous submissions are discouraged; k+p press values focused, committed proposals. Response times can be lengthy due to the hands-on nature of the press, so patience is appreciated.

k+p press publishes only a small number of titles each year. We accept submissions of fiction, memoir, and narrative nonfiction manuscripts. Please only submit finished works, as we are selecting the most fitting works for k+p press based on what is already written.
