Longleaf Press is an independent literary publisher founded in 2010 with the conviction that poetry and literary fiction can thrive outside commercial constraints. Its annual Book Prize, open to poets and writers at any stage, selects one full-length manuscript for publication each year, embodying the press's commitment to work of formal risk and emotional precision. The press maintains a small, curated list, prioritizing sustained attention to each title over rapid expansion.

Manuscript submissions
Reading periodOpen now
Submit only during the annual Book Prize window, typically opening in late summer. Manuscripts should be full-length (48–80 pages for poetry; 150–300 pages for fiction) and previously unpublished as a collection. Include a brief cover letter with publication history, if any, and a self-addressed stamped envelope for return of materials if submitting by post. Simultaneous submissions are accepted with immediate notification of acceptance elsewhere. Reading fees are modest and contribute to the prize purse. Expect a response within four to six months; queries before that period are discouraged.
