About the press

Prolific Press International Chapbook Series is a publishing initiative dedicated to the chapbook as a vital form for contemporary poetry and short prose. Founded on the belief that the chapbook offers an ideal space for concentrated, thematically cohesive work, the series provides a platform for emerging and established writers to present manuscripts of 20–30 pages. Each selected chapbook is produced with careful attention to design and production values, reflecting a commitment to the book as a physical object. The series operates with a rolling submission model, ensuring that voices from diverse geographies and aesthetics can find a home without the constraints of a single annual reading period.

Publishing focus

The Prolific Press Chapbook Series publishes distinctive, accomplished works of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction with a clear artistic identity and a strong sense of purpose. Editors look for manuscripts that feel complete and fully realized, rather than simply assembled—works in which the individual pieces contribute to a sustained voice, subject, atmosphere, narrative, or artistic vision across the collection. Stories should be interesting and memorable.

Writers should submit a complete chapbook manuscript of 20–30 pages, typically via the online submission manager. There is no reading fee for standard submissions, though expedited options may be available. Prolific Press values clear, polished writing with a strong thematic arc; simultaneous submissions are accepted, but notify immediately upon acceptance elsewhere. Include a brief cover letter with publication credits, if any, and a table of contents. Response times vary, so query after three months if you have not heard back. The press does not require a query letter before submission, but reading recent titles from the series will help align your work with their aesthetic.

Editors are looking for poems that are immersive rather than merely declarative. Strong poems create an experience the reader can enter. They suggest, reveal, and resonate without explaining every meaning or telling the reader exactly what to feel. The best work leaves room for readers to bring something of themselves to the poem, allowing meaning to deepen through that exchange. Stories, both fiction and non-fiction should have a beginning and an end, be resonate and entertaining all the way through.
