Violet Winding Stars Press is an independent poetry publisher founded in 2016 by poet and editor Elena Marquez. The press emerged from a desire to create a home for lyrical, image-driven poetry that often falls between the cracks of larger commercial and academic presses. Its mission is to publish work that is formally adventurous yet emotionally resonant, with a particular emphasis on voices from underrepresented communities. Since its inception, the press has released over thirty chapbooks and full-length collections, many of which have gone on to receive recognition from organizations such as the Poetry Society of America and the Lambda Literary Awards.
