About the press

YesYes Books is an independent poetry press founded in 2011 by poet and editor KMA Sullivan. From its inception, the press has been dedicated to publishing work that is urgent, risk-taking, and emotionally resonant, often championing voices that challenge conventional poetic decorum. Its catalog includes full-length collections, chapbooks, and the celebrated Vinyl 45s series—a unique format pairing a single poem with a vinyl record—reflecting a commitment to innovative presentation and accessibility. The press operates with a small, curatorially driven ethos, prioritizing aesthetic daring over market trends.

Publishing focus

YesYes Books has been publishing provocative collections of poetry, fiction, and experimental art since 2011. The editors look for work that acknowledges and celebrates their passionate, complex, and boundless natures.

Unsolicited submissionsNo

YesYes Books accepts submissions during periodic open reading windows, typically announced via its website and social media. Poets should submit a complete manuscript of 48–80 pages, with a clear table of contents and acknowledgments. The press values work that demonstrates a distinctive voice, emotional risk, and structural awareness; overly conventional or workshop-polished poems are less likely to stand out. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but notify immediately if the manuscript is placed elsewhere. Include a brief cover letter with publication history and a note on why the manuscript fits YesYes’s aesthetic. Reading fees are often charged to support the press’s operations, with fee waivers available for marginalized writers. Response times can range from several months to over half a year; patience is advised. For the Vinyl 45s series, submit single poems (up to 3) with a strong sonic or performative quality.
