About the residency

ACENTRICSPACE is a global, decentralized artist residency program founded on the principle that meaningful artistic development can occur outside traditional institutional frameworks. Rather than operating a fixed physical facility, it functions as a distributed network, connecting artists with host organizations, mentors, and peers across multiple cities. Its core mission is to support experimental practices that are process-driven, context-responsive, and often ephemeral, with an emphasis on dialogue and exchange over production and exhibition. The residency is structured to accommodate artists working in social practice, performance, digital media, and interdisciplinary forms, offering flexible durations and remote or in-person participation options.

Planning your application

Applicants should approach ACENTRICSPACE with a clear articulation of their process and research interests, rather than a portfolio of finished works. The selection committee prioritizes proposals that demonstrate openness to collaboration, site-specific thinking, and a willingness to engage with the program's decentralized structure. Since the residency is not tied to a single location, artists should specify how they envision using the network—whether through remote mentorship, local partnerships, or travel-based research. The open call for 2026-2027 Winter is competitive; early submission is advised. Include a concise project description, a current CV, and work samples that reflect your methodological concerns. Avoid generic artist statements; instead, outline specific questions or experiments you wish to pursue during the residency.
