About the residency
Alchemy Artists Residency is a nomadic, international residency program that convenes artists on islands and in remote landscapes to foster experimentation, dialogue, and the development of new work. Founded on the belief that creative practice thrives in concentrated, supportive environments, Alchemy provides time, space, and community without the pressures of production or exhibition. Its core mission is to facilitate deep engagement with one's practice, encouraging risk-taking and cross-disciplinary exchange among a diverse cohort of artists.

Artists should approach Alchemy with a clear sense of what they wish to explore, not necessarily what they intend to produce. The residency favors applicants who demonstrate a willingness to engage with the unknown and to contribute to a collaborative community. Proposals should articulate a genuine need for the residency's specific conditions—time, isolation, and exchange—rather than a desire for career advancement. Applications are typically open to artists at any stage, but a strong track record of self-directed work is beneficial. Deadlines are announced on the website, and early inquiry is advised.
