About the organization
BONFIRE Art Platform is an international, process-oriented residency program that fosters artistic research and cross-cultural exchange. Founded with the belief that meaningful art emerges from sustained dialogue and immersion, BONFIRE provides artists with time, space, and critical support to develop new work. Its flagship Japan New Year Retreat invites participants to engage with local contexts and traditions, encouraging reflection and experimentation away from commercial pressures.

Artists should submit a clear project proposal that demonstrates a need for retreat and cross-cultural engagement. Emphasize process over finished product, and articulate how the Japan context will inform your practice. Applications are reviewed for artistic merit and alignment with the platform's ethos of reflection and exchange.
