About the residency
The Embassy of Foreign Artists (EoFA) is a Geneva-based residency program founded in 2008 with the aim of providing a platform for artists to engage with the complex international landscape of Geneva. Situated in a city renowned for its diplomatic and humanitarian institutions, EoFA invites artists to explore themes of migration, translation, and transnational identity. The residency is hosted in a historic building in the heart of Geneva, offering living and working spaces that foster dialogue and experimentation. Over the years, EoFA has hosted numerous artists from diverse backgrounds, encouraging critical engagement with the local context and beyond. Its core mission is to support artistic research and production that responds to the unique environment of Geneva as a hub of international organizations and a crossroads of cultures.

Planning your application
Artists should approach EoFA with a clear project proposal that demonstrates a genuine interest in engaging with Geneva's international context. Research the city's diplomatic and humanitarian networks, and articulate how the residency would benefit your practice. The selection committee values conceptual rigor and site-specificity. Applications are typically open to artists of all nationalities and career stages, but a strong rationale for why Geneva is essential to your project is crucial. Prepare a concise portfolio and a feasible budget, as resources are modest. Deadlines are usually announced on the website, and early inquiries are welcome.
