About the residency
The Fez Art Residency, based in Fez, Morocco, operates as a platform for artists to develop and present work within a context steeped in North African history and craft. Rather than a traditional residency with a fixed cohort, it functions as a host for self-directed projects, offering space and logistical support for artists to engage with the city's cultural fabric. Its ethos is one of open-ended inquiry, where the residency serves as a conduit for dialogue between contemporary practice and the layered traditions of Fez.

Artists should propose a clear project that engages with Fez's context, whether through material research, social practice, or site-specific work. The residency is best suited for those who are self-motivated and comfortable navigating a new cultural setting with minimal structure. Inquiries should include a concise project description, timeline, and how the residency would support the work. It is advisable to visit the website for current application details and to reach out directly with specific questions about facilities and expectations.
