Jambatan Art Space

Jambatan Art Space is an independent, artist-led organisation founded in Copenhagen in 2008 and now operating between Malaysia and international contexts. It develops exhibitions, residencies, festivals, research and collaborative projects that create connections between artists, places and communities. Jambatan is the organisational platform behind Stateless Mind, Stateless House and the Stateless Mind Pavilion, with an emphasis on artistic experimentation, intercultural exchange and independent practice. Stateless House Artist Residency is an independent, artist-led residency based in Langkawi, Malaysia, and developed under Stateless Mind. Located in a quiet rural setting surrounded by paddy fields, buffaloes, tropical vegetation and abundant birdlife, Stateless House is also close to the beaches of Cenang and Pantai Tengah. The residency provides artists, writers, curators, researchers and interdisciplinary practitioners with time and space for research, experimentation, writing and artistic development. Rather than focusing on the production of finished work, it values intercultural dialogue, artistic encounters, shared and lived experiences. Residents work independently and at their own pace while engaging with Langkawi through its landscape, communities and cultural environment. Field visits and introductions to local artists, craftspeople, communities and cultural spaces can be arranged according to individual interests.
