About the residency
La Maison Ocre is an independent arts organization that facilitates artistic research residencies and grants, with a particular focus on projects engaging the archives of international organizations in Geneva. Founded on the belief that bureaucratic records hold untapped aesthetic and critical potential, the organization provides artists with the time, space, and contextual support to mine these repositories. Its ethos is one of slow, process-driven inquiry, encouraging work that interrogates the intersections of diplomacy, memory, and visual culture. By situating artists within the orbit of Geneva's institutional archives, La Maison Ocre fosters a practice that is both historically grounded and formally experimental.

Planning your application
Artists should approach La Maison Ocre with a well-defined research proposal that demonstrates a genuine engagement with the archives of international organizations in Geneva. The selection committee values projects that move beyond mere illustration of archival content, favoring instead those that critically interrogate the archive as a site of power and knowledge production. Applications should articulate a clear methodological framework and a feasible plan for accessing and interpreting the relevant materials. Given the organization's limited resources, proposals that are specific, self-directed, and mindful of the residency's duration and scope are most competitive. It is advisable to familiarize oneself with the holdings of Geneva-based institutions such as the United Nations Archives or the International Committee of the Red Cross before applying.
