About the residency

Palazzo Monti is an artist residency housed within a historic 13th-century palazzo in Brescia, Italy. Founded in 2017 by artist and curator Edoardo Monti, the program transforms domestic and exhibition spaces into a living studio environment, inviting emerging and mid-career artists to produce new work over a two-month period. The residency emphasizes process over final product, encouraging experimentation and dialogue within a community of peers. Each cycle culminates in a public exhibition, often staged within the palazzo’s frescoed rooms, offering artists a rare opportunity to present work in a non-traditional, intimate setting.

Planning your application

Palazzo Monti operates on an invitation-only basis, though artists may submit inquiries through the website. There is no open call; instead, the curatorial team reviews portfolios on a rolling basis. Artists should present a coherent body of work that demonstrates a commitment to experimentation and a willingness to engage with the palazzo’s unique context. Proposals should be concise, visually documented, and reflect an awareness of the residency’s emphasis on process. While the program does not charge application fees, selected artists are responsible for travel and material costs; some scholarships may be available. Patience is advised, as response times can be lengthy due to the high volume of inquiries.
