About the residency
The Pollock-Krasner Foundation (PKF) was established in 1985 as the executor of the estates of Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner. Its founding ethos is to provide financial assistance to individual visual artists of established ability, enabling them to create new work and further their careers. The foundation awards grants based on artistic merit and financial need, with a focus on painters, sculptors, and artists working in traditional media. Over three decades, PKF has distributed over 4,500 grants to artists in 77 countries, maintaining a commitment to supporting the creative process without imposing exhibition or project requirements.

Planning your application
Applicants should submit a concise artist statement, a current CV, and a representative portfolio of recent work (typically 10-15 images). The foundation values clarity and professionalism; avoid overly conceptual language. Demonstrate a sustained studio practice and financial need. Deadlines are rolling, but review cycles occur periodically. Ensure all materials are submitted through the online portal and that image files meet technical specifications. Grants are not for tuition, residencies, or equipment; they are for living and working expenses.
