About the residency
The Prairie Ronde Artist Residency, situated in the rural Midwest, was founded on the belief that meaningful artistic practice often flourishes away from urban centers. Its ethos is one of quiet rigor: providing artists with uninterrupted time, space, and a supportive community that values process over product. The residency does not prescribe outcomes; instead, it offers a contemplative environment where artists can engage deeply with their work, free from the pressures of the commercial or academic art worlds.

Applicants should demonstrate a clear need for uninterrupted time and a willingness to engage with a rural, communal setting. The selection committee values authenticity over polish; proposals that articulate a genuine artistic inquiry, rather than a finished project, are favored. Include work samples that reflect your current practice, and be specific about how the residency's environment would benefit your process. Avoid overstating career goals; instead, focus on the work itself.
