About the residency

PRAKSIS is an Oslo-based, independent non-profit organization founded in 2014 by artists and curators seeking to create a sustainable framework for peer-led, process-driven international residencies. Its core mission is to support artists at critical junctures in their practice by fostering open-ended research, dialogue, and experimentation, rather than focusing on finished outcomes. Each residency is shaped around a thematic inquiry proposed by a curator, artist, or collective, and unfolds through a collaborative, non-hierarchical structure that prioritizes mutual learning and contextual engagement.

Planning your application

Artists and curators interested in PRAKSIS should first review the current and upcoming residency themes on the website, as each call has specific conceptual parameters and logistical details. Applications are typically open to international practitioners at any career stage, but a clear articulation of how your practice intersects with the residency inquiry is essential. Proposals should demonstrate a willingness to engage in collective process rather than a focus on final outputs. While PRAKSIS does not provide studio space or production facilities, it offers a supportive environment for research, dialogue, and site-responsive work. It is advisable to subscribe to the newsletter for timely call announcements, as deadlines are often firm and application windows can be short.
